There’s a saying online: “After being single for a long time, even a dog looks attractive.”
I think the person who first said this must have been a guy.
Guys and girls are really different creatures. The longer they’re single, the more their changes diverge.
Want to know the specifics? Keep reading with me.
1. Guys Lower Their Standards, While Girls Raise Them
As guys stay single, their standards for a partner drop.
Initially, they wanted someone beautiful, lively, understanding, fair, tall, slim, and smart.
Then, they thought being less beautiful was okay, as long as they had a good personality.
After that, they found chubby and short girls acceptable, and those with quirks were fine too.
After being single for a while, they just want a girl who’s alive.
Lately, my guy roommate seems a bit cute??
But what about girls? Their standards go up.
Even if they say, “As long as he’s alive, that’s enough.”
When a decent guy comes along, they start to nitpick: “His job isn’t stable enough, he’s too careless, too greasy, and he’s from out of town? No thanks, I don’t want to go so far from home…”
The core reason is that guys simply want to stop being single and get into a relationship.
Girls, on the other hand, think long term, even considering how many tables to book for the wedding. They feel they’re not so young anymore and have fewer chances to make mistakes.
2. Guys See Beauty Everywhere, Girls See Flaws Everywhere
Guys’ views on the opposite sex change a lot when they’re single.
Girls they didn’t like or find attractive before now seem quite cute.
If a pretty girl smiles at them on the street, they start to imagine a future together.
Girls, on the other hand, have stricter demands on the opposite sex.
They think the delivery guy might have sinister intentions just by asking a few questions. It’s scary!
When they see their friend’s boyfriend, they can think of numerous flaws and conclude that all guys are no good.
After drooling over a handsome idol, they might think, “What does he have to do with me?”
3. Guys Get Sloppier, Girls Get Tougher
Guys start to let themselves go after being single for a while. They throw out trash every three days, change their clothes once a week, get a haircut every two months, and tidy their room every three months…
They feel it’s pointless because no girls will come looking for them. They’ve lost the motivation to tidy up.
Girls, on the other hand, develop extraordinary strength and become more independent and resilient.
They learn to fix pipes, change light bulbs, and do house renovations. They gradually become the kind of person they want to marry.
Every long-term single girl tends to become more independent, temporarily wrapping her soft emotions and starting to protect herself.
4. Guys Are Eager to Stop Being Single, While Girls Enjoy Being Single
Guys start to question their charm and develop a strong desire to conquer.
They see getting out of singledom as a mission, a challenge. They find all kinds of ways to escape being single.
Girls, on the other hand, start to wonder if there’s something wrong with them. Why else would all the guys be blind to them?
But they gradually lose the courage and ability to love.
They still believe in love, but not in their own luck in love.
Sometimes they feel lonely and want someone to be with, but more often, they really enjoy being single.
They feel the men they meet are too shallow and ignorant, and no one truly understands their inner world. No one is worth loving wholeheartedly.
In conclusion, the longer they’re single, guys become more “casual,” while girls become more “demanding.”
Both lose the best mindset for love and a part of their ability to love.
In reality, whether guys or girls, everyone wants a beautiful relationship, to find someone to accompany them for life, to share the ups and downs of life, and never feel lonely again.
I hope everyone can have good luck in love and meet the person they’ve been longing for in the best times of their lives.
