Aunt at 65 Has Standards for Choosing a Partner: Rather Be Alone If These 5 Criteria Aren’t Met

“What kind of man truly loves you?” A friend once asked me this question.

Instead of giving her a direct answer, I asked her a simple question.

Imagine you have three men to choose from:

  1. A man with $10,000 but only willing to give you $100.
  2. A man with $100, willing to give you $99.
  3. A man with $188, only willing to give you $88.

So, who would you choose in the end?

The girl without hesitation chose the second one, saying, “Of course, I would marry the man with $100 who is willing to give me $99, because that’s the man who truly loves you.”

Most people would probably choose the second one after hearing her answer.

But in reality, the third man is the one who loves you the most.

The first man, having $10,000 but only willing to give you $100, clearly doesn’t value you and won’t understand how to cherish you.

The second man, having $100 but willing to give you $99, may start off loving you, but very few can truly sustain that over time.

The third man, despite not initially giving as much, is the one who can endure and is more practical.

It’s undeniable that we are all selfish. In the beginning, we may shower each other with sweet words, but when it comes to the realities of life, only a few can continue to be consistent.

Real, tangible efforts far outweigh unrealistic promises.

Before, during a walk with Aunt Susan downstairs, we discussed views on choosing a partner. Aunt Susan is 65 years old, with two married daughters, leading a happy and harmonious family life.

Aunt Susan has been married to her husband for over 40 years, their first love being each other, still envied by many as an exemplary couple.

When I asked her about the secret to their love, Aunt Susan smiled and said, “Men fear choosing the wrong profession, women fear marrying the wrong man. The best decision I ever made was marrying him.”

Listening to Aunt Susan’s words, I couldn’t help but admire their love.

Regarding choosing a partner, Aunt Susan mentioned five criteria that, if not met, she would rather be alone:

  1. Not willing to accommodate you: A little temper in a girl is normal, as mischief is a form of reliance, while politeness is distant. If a man can’t accommodate even the smallest things, it shows he doesn’t truly love you.

  2. Unwilling to spend money on you: A man’s heart follows his money. To see if a man truly loves you, observe how willing he is to spend on you.

  3. Unwilling to change for you: Love is about mutual understanding and acceptance. It requires both parties to work on it together.

  4. Unwilling to admit mistakes: A man willing to apologize even when it’s hard shows immense love and respect for you.

  5. Not considerate of you: True love means considering and cherishing each other’s feelings, especially in marriage.

Listening to the experiences of others can often provide valuable insights and clarity in our own lives.
